WINTER REMINDERS:
When the weather outside is frightful, staying home might be so delightful. If you feel it is unsafe to drive to gymnastics, please give us a call and we will gladly schedule a make-up for you. Please check Facebook, the website, or call the gym at 269-429-5100 to find out if we are closed.

As wintery conditions continue, please remember to park wisely in the parking lot. Please remember to leave space for cars to loop around. Use caution when backing up out of the parking lot as cars may be parked differently due to visibility of parking lot lines.

Also, please be aware that we do our best to keep salt down in our parking lot and sidewalks, but it can get very slippery. Use caution when walking through the parking lot and on sidewalks.

DROP OFF/PICK UP: Please, if you are able, walk your child into and out of the front entrance to alleviate any lines formed in the parking lot. Extra parking is available on either side of the building as well as the main parking lot. We do not let kids wait outside for parents/rides. If they are outside, we will ask that they come inside to wait. Thank you for your understanding in keeping all of our families safe.

RECREATIONAL NEWS:
Girls locker room for team athletes only, recreational kids should be using the restrooms across from the locker room.

Evaluations will be coming up in February. Please remember evaluations are NOT a move up evaluation. This is a time for instructors to re-evaluate all skills for each child to see retention of skills and also to check for new skills attained. You may view these skills in the parent portal online or can ask your child’s instructor to see their skill achievement sheets.

DANCE NEWS

Check out our NEW dance classes starting February 5th!

Monday Evenings:
Beginner Modern - 5:20-6:05p
Beginner Hip Hop - 6:10-7:10p
Beginner West African - 7:15-8:00p

Importance of Proper Dance Attire:
When a dancer is properly dressed; leotard, tights, skirt or shorts, dancers are less distracted and it shows the teacher they are ready to dance and learn. It also builds self-confidence, allows the dancer to move freely without restrictions, and teaches discipline.

For our younger dancers, a dress code helps them focus during class by understanding they are going to a structured class, not just free playtime. Dress code becomes more important as the dancer gets older, especially in Ballet classes. It allows the teacher to see the dancer’s body positions and movement to make proper corrections to benefit the dancers education.

Hair being pulled back and out of the face is another part of the dress code. Especially for the younger dancers, their hair can be very distracting. As the dancer gets older it is very important to have hair pulled back in a ponytail or bun (for ballet classes) so it does not limit or distract from the dancers learning in class.
